Dear bunnies,
Tonight, I find myself thinking about the ocean.
And somehow, my thoughts lead me back to Ephesians 3:18–19.
I remember the season when these verses first touched something deep within me. I was in darkness then. Everything felt chaotic. I was wandering through a desert, thirsty for something I couldn’t quite name. There was a longing in me that nothing seemed able to satisfy. I kept searching, hoping to find something that could finally reach the places in me that felt so empty.
One night, just before going to sleep, I opened the Word. I was reading Ephesians 3, and I found myself lingering over verses 18 and 19. I had read them many times before, but that night, I kept returning to them, letting the words settle in my heart.
How wide, how long, how high, and how deep.
And the first thought that came to mind was, So, it’s like an ocean?
An ocean.

Vast. Deep. Beyond anything I could measure. Its depths holding more than my eyes could ever see. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how fitting it was to picture Christ’s love that way.
How do you measure something so immense? Where would you even begin when you cannot see the bottom? How do you fully comprehend a love that Scripture itself describes as too great to understand?
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully.
I think that’s what moved me so deeply about those verses. I didn’t have to understand all of His love before I could experience it. I didn’t need to figure everything out before I could rest in it.
I could simply come to Him, thirsty as I was.
Maybe that’s what I needed most during that season. Not another thing to chase or another place to search, but a love I could rest in, even when I couldn’t make sense of everything happening inside me.
I think about the ocean now, and I find myself drawn to what it represents to me.
Its movement. Its endless possibilities. The feeling of freedom.
Freedom has always been one of my favorite words.
There’s something about it that makes my heart feel lighter. Perhaps it’s the thought of no longer being held captive by the things that once kept me in darkness. Perhaps it’s knowing that the places where I once felt lost don’t have to be the places where I remain.
For Christ gives us freedom.
And the more I think about His love, the more I realize that I cannot put a boundary around it. There is still so much I don’t understand about Him, His ways, and the life He is teaching me to live. But I don’t think understanding everything is a requirement for experiencing His love.
I can return to His Word and find something that speaks to me differently than it did before. I can look back at the person I was in that desert and recognize that my thirst was real, but so was the love that met me there.
And tonight, here I am.
I’m sitting on my balcony, in my favorite chair, with some music playing softly and Gardenia cheese buns beside me. The night is quiet, and I have the space to sit with my thoughts. There is nowhere I need to rush to, nothing I need to prove in this little moment. I’m simply here, writing and remembering what those verses meant to me.
It’s amazing how a passage you’ve read so many times can suddenly open a door inside you.
I wonder how many times I’ve read God’s Word without realizing what I would one day come to see in it. Maybe the words had been there all along, and my heart needed time to understand them in a different way.
I don’t know.
But I keep coming back to the ocean.
To the freedom I feel when I imagine something so vast that I cannot see where it ends. And to the love of Christ, which is far greater than anything I could ever imagine.
Maybe I’ll spend my whole life learning the depth of that love and still never fully comprehend it. There will always be more of Him to know, more of His heart to discover, more of His grace to experience.
And I’m learning to find peace in that.
I don’t have to reach the end of His love to know that I am loved. I don’t have to understand it completely to experience it.
For now, I can keep coming to Him with all my questions, my longings, and the parts of me that are still learning what it means to be free.
And perhaps, along the way, I’ll keep discovering just how deep His love goes.
Like an ocean, wider than I can see, deeper than I can imagine, and more than my heart could ever fully comprehend.
What about you? Have you ever encountered a verse that found you in the middle of your own desert and reminded you of a love greater than anything you could understand? I’d love to hear your story.
